ZipLogs Log File Management Utility
This little utility makes IIS log file management simple and
easy. Every night it zips up all of the log files for all of the
Web sites, FTP sites, and SMTP services deleting the original file
after verification to save precious space resulting in a 5 to 1
compression ratio. It also makes these log files easier to access
for analysis through third-party analytics tools like ClickTracks
and WebTrends.

Here is what your log file folders will look like when you use
ZipLogs nightly on a scheduled basis.

Installing ZipLogs
Installation is simple, just run the installer to install
ZipLogs. It will install itself in the Program Files folder and add
itself to the Start -> Programs menu.

Configuring ZipLogs
Once installed, open ZipLogs and configure your options by
selecting File -> Options.

In the Options dialog box enter the path to the log files. This
is normally C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles\ be sure to use a closing
"\" so that the program can find the directory. ZipLogs will zip up
any .log it finds in this folder and all of its sub-folders.

Zipping files older than 0 days allows means that the system
will compress yesterday's log file if you run zip logs today. Check
the delete files after compression option to remove the
original log files to save space.
Scheduling ZipLogs
ZipLogs can be run via the command prompt and scheduled using
task manager to run early each morning to compress all of the log
files from the previous day. Use Control Panel to create a
scheduled task for ZipLogs. Use the silent attribute to
keep the program running in console mode instead of using the user
interface. Schedule it to run daily in the early morning after the
log files have rolled.
